Silver vs gold market cap
The dying newspaper industry is over 26 times bigger. Drug manufacturers are 213 times larger. Heck, even the gold market is 19 times greater. And here’s the fun one: the market cap of the entire silver market, with all its record-setting prices and stock-screaming highs, represents just one-third of one percent of the oil and gas industry. It generally represents the market's view of a company's stock value and is a determining factor in stock valuation. For example, if a company has 1.5 million shares outstanding at a share price of $25, its market cap is $37.5 million (1.5 million x $25). According to mining experts silver ore is mined from the Earth’s crust at about 8 parts silver to 1 part gold. These points do not necessarily mean that silver should be valued at a slimmer ratio, we state it to make the point that silver, like gold, is indeed a very rare precious metal with a long history as money and a store of value.
